LATERNA MAGICA
The Laterna Magica ensemble is composed of graduate musicians or teachers in the higher conservatories of Brussels, Paris and The Hague. Favoring the interpretation of trio sonatas from the repertoire of the Baroque period, the ensemble nevertheless neglects a historical tradition of arrangements and transcriptions, giving it a very special place in its concert programs. The first recording of the set, Exercitium. Transcriptions of Bach works. published under the Solal label, is dedicated to Johann-Sebastian Bach. The second, Opera Minima. Handel with care, published by Paraty, presents transcriptions of Handel's operas in the spirit of those published by the London editor John Walsh.
Laterna Magica performs regularly in various Belgian and European festivals and halls (Mosan Summer Festival, Midis-Minimes Festival, Musical Autumn at Spa Festival de Lasne, Mubafa Festival, Musical strolls by Rixensart, Palace of Fine Arts in Charleroi , Summer festivities of early music in Prague, Natural History Museum in Berlin, Bach en Combrailles festival ....) as well as several times in Asia (Hanoi, Vietnam, New Delhi and Pondicherry, India, Singapore, National Center for the Perfoming Arts, Beijing, China, Chuncheon international early music festival, Chuncheon, South Korea) and in Latin America (Festivals Encuentro musical boliviano-europeo in La Paz and Misiones de Chiquitos in Santa-Cruz, Bolivia, Esteban Salas festival 2007 in Havana, Cuba, Francophonie Brasilia Week, Alliance Française de Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil).
During these trips beyond our borders, the musicians of the ensemble also developed into an educational activity of conferences and master classes, on baroque and contemporary music.
